If you’re a platform fan like I am, you’ve probably owned and/or played Rayman Legends, the most recent entry in the long running Rayman series of games. Initially, this particular entry in the series was originally supposed to serve as a Wii U exclusive title.
Unfortunately for Wii U owners, the console had trouble building an early audience and Ubisoft eventually retooled the ambitious title so it could release the game on additional platforms. The end result for the retooled title ended up making an appearance on a multitude of different platforms. Later this year, it will finally touch down on the Nintendo Switch platform.
Rayman Legends: Definitive Edition, which was first announced in January, has only had a vague release window of only “2017,” at least until recently. That changed recently, when a demo for the game briefly appeared on the Nintendo UK store front, with some text referencing an upcoming September 12th release date. Not surprisingly, the demo has since been pulled off the eShop, and the text has been returned to its vague former state, but that cat is out of the bag now, so to speak. 🙂
Keep in mind, however, that the September 12th release date was briefly listed for Europe, and not necessarily North America. However, many Switch titles tend to release simultaneously in multiple regions, or their release in one region or another only trails by only a week or two. It’s also worth mentioning that Amazon currently has the Rayman Legends: Definitive Edition physical version of the game listed online for $39.99 in North America, with the September 12th date shown. However, that could also change in the future.
Rayman Legends is the follow-up to Rayman Origins. It features dozens of beautifully rendered platforming stages, along with various mini-games for multiple players. The Wii U version had special features and additional content that should work well on the Switch hardware, as should the multiplayer action.
The definitive edition should be well worth playing when it comes to physical release and digital storefronts later on this year, ESPECIALLY if you haven’t already experienced a prior release.
